I am nearing completion of my Practice-based PhD in Dance. As I organise and reorganise my PhD thesis, I am also reflecting moment-by-moment on the journey I have undertaken, and the unknown future ahead of me- simply ahead of all of us.
The research undertakings (Stockholm, Vancouver, Chichester, London, Calgary and soon, Grenoble) have led me to address some of my deeply-rooted assumptions about dance making and choreographing, but also enabled me to take stock of the values I now place on developing anew my creative practice. Over the past year, I have been able to delve into a new type of practice and I am enthused to explore with wonderful dancers, researchers, and collaborators in the studio.
I will be posting more about my developing studio work over the next month, as a separate process to my PhD work. This feels like a transitional space now, from my academic research/ study context, back into my professional work.
